Somewhere in Kutch....

Unhatched eggs lie unattended in Kutch’s Flamingo City, creating a surreal landscape. Not surprisingly, this stretch is popularly known as ‘Andabet’. Wildlife expert Lavkumar Khachar says flamingos abandon their eggs if the breeding season begins late and the sea water recedes much faster than expected. Forest officials say every year about 15 to 20 per cent of the eggs fail to hatch and are abandoned. Flamingo City is known internationally as one of the nesting grounds for flamingos in the world .
