Agni VI

The Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO) is busy developing Agni VI ballistic missile, which will be capable of hitting multiple targets in one go.
DRDO chief VK Saraswat said the long-range nuclear capable ballistic missile will be able to carry multiple warheads.
Saraswat, who was an integral part of Agni, Prithvi and Dhanush development programmes, said: “Agni-V is a major strategic defence weapon. Now, we want to make Agni-VI, which will be a force multiplier.”
“At present, work is on the design and hardware realization phase. We are using the MIRV approach,” he added.
A multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicle (MIRV) is a ballistic missile payload containing several warheads, each capable of hitting one in a group of targets.
Saraswat said DRDO is also working on a cruise missile defence programme, which will allow the armed forces to defend against low-flying cruise missiles and enemy aircraft.

DRDO is developing a 17-metre-long aerostat with a volume of 1,700 cubic meters. The aerostat will be similar to the one acquired from Israel.
Normally, aerostats are large fabric envelopes filled with helium, but DRDO is working on an hydrogen fabric, which can be inflammable like helium. Aerostats can be used for surveillance, intelligence, broadcasting communication relay and jamming of electronic systems.
