Sparks fly in NDA

Deep fissures in the NDA in Haryana have come out in the open, less than a week after the state saw a record 73% turnout during voting. The Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) has asked the NDA to expel Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) from the alliance for canvassing with the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD).
In a letter to NDA chairperson LK Advani, HJC president Kuldeep Bishnoi has said that during Lok Sabha campaigning, SAD, openly campaigned against BJP and HJC with Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal “sharing stage with our staunch opponents, INLD.”
“These acts are not only immoral and unethical but also contrary to the whole premise of the ideology behind formation of NDA,” Bishnoi has said in the letter. “SAD’s open opposition of BJP and HJC candidates in Haryana has portrayed NDA and all its partners, especially BJP, in bad light. These are instances of complete indiscipline and extreme breach of understanding.”
BJP had recently stopped Haryana heavyweight leader Venod Sharma from switching over to HJC after quitting Congress creating further tensions between the two.
