Mumbai Metro One : 6 months on

Around 5 crore commuters have used the Versova-Ghatkopar-Andheri Metro since the first service was introduced in June. This translates into around 2.77 lakh commuters per day , but sources said that on some days, the ridership figure crossed the 3-lakh mark.
The 12-km-long corridor was opened to public on June 8 at an introductory offer of Rs.10 per ride between any destinations. The R-Infra promoted Mumbai Metro One Private Ltd (MMOPL) runs around 390 Metro services per day . “Within 180 days, we have managed to get ridership of 50 million commuters. Commencing on June 8, Mumbai Metro trains have already made over 77,000 trips and covered a distance of over 8 lakh km with more than 99% service efficiency,“ said an MMOPL spokesperson. The Versova-Ghatkopar-Andheri corridor with 12 stations has helped reduce travel time from 90 minutes to 21 minutes.
The MMRDA has planned two more Metro routes--the 40 km Dahisar-Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd underground corridor and 30.8-km Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane corridor.
Unlike Metro One, which was executed on public-private partnership basis, these two corridors will be constructed on cash contract with support from international financial institutions, such as World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
