Petrol, Diesel prices cut

State-run fuel retailers on Monday slashed petrol price by Rs.2 and diesel by 50 paise a litre, marking the third reduction in pump prices this month, as crude continued to trade near six-year lows. The revised rates include local levies.
In Mumbai, the revised petrol price will be Rs.66.23 (down from Rs.68.24) and diesel price will be Rs.49.51 per litre (down from Rs.50.04).The reduction will vary marginally in accordance with prevailing tax rates in other states.Retailers had reduced petrol price by Rs.1.27 a litre and diesel by Rs.1.17 per litre since August 15. This was preceded by a drop of Rs.2.43 a litre in petrol and Rs.3.60 in diesel from August 1.
Pump prices have been coming down steadily in the backdrop of the slide in global crude.The price of petrol and diesel was cut on July 1 by 31 paise and 71 paise per litre, respectively followed by a
Rs .2 per litre cut in both petrol and diesel, excluding local taxes, from July 16.
