Dharavi revamp update

The Dharavi redevelopment project will finally see the light of the day. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis directed departments concerned to expedite the process and float global tenders for the redevelopment of four major sectors in Dharavi.
He also directed officials to keep in mind guidelines issued by the Centre and the large number of entrepreneurs and small industries in Dharavi who will have to be provided alternative arrangement.
State housing department officials said that clauses in the tenders have been finalized such that they set deliverables for agencies executing the project at every level. “This will include time-bound execution of phases of the project and compliance of urban development norms, “said an official. The project is slated to be completed in seven years. Tenders were floated in 2009 but was scrapped at the last minute.
