`My Capital, My Amaravati, My Brick'

The Andhra Pradesh government has instructed officials to collect Rs.10 each from students and teachers across the state for chief minister Chandrababu Naidu's `My Capital, My Amaravati, My Brick' programme.
The state has been raising money by selling bricks for Rs.10 each to construct a new capital in Amaravati and the fresh move aims to involve about 70 lakh students and three lakh teachers. The school education commissioner issued a circular on Monday instructing students and teachers to deposit the money before January 10.Sources said the school education department had hastened the circular following instructions from state HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao. They said officials would deduct Rs 10 each from monthly `cosmetic charges' paid to students of government-run hostels and residential schools. The government hopes to collect Rs.7.2 crore from the exercise.
