8th IIM opens at Ranchi

The Jharkhand capital, which has of late become an education hub, had another feather added to its cap with the country’s eighth Indian Institute of Management coming into existence in Ranchi. The prestigious B-school was inaugurated by Governor MOH Farook at a glittering function attended by IIM’s Board of Governors chairman R C Bhargava, IIMCalcutta director Shekhar Chaudhuri and Union HRD ministry additional secretary Ashok Thakur. Addressing the function, Farook said once the flagship two-year programme stabilizes, IIM-Ranchi should endeavour to develop and offer short and long-duration certificate programmes to suit the needs of Jharkhand’s people. The other IIMs are in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow and Shillong.
