Delhi's Terminal 3

On July 14, it will be passengers of the Air India flight, IC 859, from Delhi to Dubai, who will be the first to use the new terminal T3. The flight will be the first to depart from the terminal and passengers will be allowed to check in from 2.50pm. The first arrival will also be an Air India flight, AI 102, from New York to Delhi, a Boeing 777, at 4.45pm. In case this flight gets delayed and other flights reach Delhi before it, they will be docked at old Terminal 2. Officials said that the first international operations were planned for the evening since there were normally very few international flights in the afternoon, and airlines would have found it easy to shift from the existing T2 to T3 during that period. However, Gulf Air and Pakistan International Airlines will operate their flights from the existing terminal T2 on July 14 even after 4.45pm. The schedule for domestic flights has not yet been announced officially though sources said that only arrivals would start on July 30 while departures would take place from the next morning. Sources said that the first domestic arrival was likely to be a Jet Airways flight at 11pm on July 30. Ten minutes later, an Indian Airlines flight from Chennai would be the next to land. The next morning, a Kingfisher flight would possibly be the first arrival at 5.10am. Airline officials, however, were not sure if domestic operations would start on the given date. According to sources, some construction in the domestic section was still pending and unless work was carried out at a breakneck pace, it might not be completed by the end of the month. Airport sources said that some other work have been completed. The multi-level parking lot with a capacity for 4,300 vehicles is also ready.
