MEGA update

Metrolink Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA) has attracted some of the world's best engineering consultancy firms that wish to provide consultancy for the project that aims to bring world-class urban infrastructure to Gujarat. These companies have offered services for the proposed Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar mass rapid regional transit system undertaken by MEGA with an estimated project cost of Rs 20,000 crore. The project will be completed over a period of seven years and will cover 110 km. 
MEGA, a special purpose vehicle of government of Gujarat, has received expression of interest (EOI) applications from Spain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Korea, Singapore, China, Japan and Thailand. 
They include leading companies like Aecom, Atkins, Egis Rail, Mott Mac-Donald, Rites, Dong Mye
ong E&C India, TUV Rheinland (India), Structon Consultants, Padeco, Seoul Metro, China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group, DB International GmbH, Sejong Corporation, Sambo Engineering, Meinhardt, Thai Engineering Consultants Company Limited and URS Infrastructure & Environment UK Limited. These companies have filed their EOIs individually or as a consortium. MEGA's executive chairman Sanjay Gupta  said two of these firms will be finalised over the next three months – one for design and system integration and the other for evaluation and project management.
