Riding on a stock market boom, Gautam Adani has blazed into the list of the 10 richest Indians even as Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani retains the top slot, said Hurun Report, published by a China-based luxury publishing and events group, tracking the uber rich in the region. Ambani's wealth swelled 37% to 1.65 lakh crore, while Sun Pharma chief Dilip Shanghvi toppled L N Mittal of Arcelor Mittal for the second position. Shanghvi's recent blockbuster acquisitions reaped a 43% rally in his wealth which stood at Rs 1.29 lakh crore. Mittal's declined 4% to Rs 97,000 crore. Adani's wealth soared 152% to Rs 44,000 crore, placing him tenth in the list.
The number of Indian billionaires nearly doubled to 109 from 59 one year ago. Mumbai with 70 billionaires is the capital of India's super rich followed by Delhi (37) and Bangalore (23) while the UK and UAE have been home to India's NRI billionaires.
