Reliance Jio, GTL Infra ink tower-sharing deal

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio Infocomm has signed a tower sharing agreement with GTL Infrastructure Ltd, a Global Group enterprise engaged in the business of shared passive telecom infrastructure in India.
After this deal, RJio has now tied up with six companies — Ascend Telecom, Tower Vision, ATC India, Viom Networks and Bharti Airtel — for tower-sharing deals. It also has a tie-up with Bharti’s i2i submarine cable for fiber optic cable and Anil Ambani- led Reliance Communications Ltd for sharing optic fiber infrastructure.
RJio will use a total of 1,38,700 telecom towers spread across the country and 22 telecom circles to offer voice and data services.
RJio, the only pan India operator with Broadband Wireless Access spectrum, is expected to launch its services by mid-March 2015. “Our mission is to launch pan- India next- generation voice and data services. We will build the same through a judicious combination of own and rented infrastructure,” said Sanjay Mashruwala, managing director, RJio .
