NaMu airport update

Acquisition of 292 hectares of land needed for the core area of the Rs.15,000 crore Navi Mumbai international airport recently received a boost as a leader of the holdout villagers agreed to hand over consent letters. “We want the airport to develop and will give the letters but on the condition that it should take note of the outcome of the case in the Bombay high court,“ Mahendra Patil said on Thursday .
He said 13 farmers had moved the high court seeking clarification on certain aspects of the state package for land acquisition. The case was heard on Wednesday and the next hearing is on Wednesday next week. Cidco said it had already replied to 23 queries.
Patil said he attended a hearing on Thursday by the special land acquisition officer deputed by the Raigad collector. He said villagers of Varacheovale and Koli had agreed to a survey of their houses.
