In a historic moment for the city of monuments, Lucknow Metro sped on the elevated metro corridor across Kanpur road after CM Akhilesh Yadav and his father and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav flagged it off for trials amid cheers from hundreds on Thursday .
Lucknow Metro has completed the 8.5 km priority section in a record two years. Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) started the works on September 27, 2014 from Transportnagar and laid tracks till Charbagh.
Akhilesh said, “Lucknow Metro is an example of how a mammoth task can be achieved despite a short deadline if there is will to put in hard work. We have already begun construction of Kanpur Metro and would lay foundation stone of Varanasi Metro before 2017 polls.“
He then unveiled the train which stood in a bright combination of red, black and grey colours even as people cheered.
