Four new Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) routes —Katraj to Nigdi, Warje to Kharadi, Kothrud to Vishrantwadi and Dhayari to Hadapsar— will soon be implemented in Pune. Leaders from all political parties agreed to start the routes in the city which will have nearly 68-km BRTS routes. Most of the works including widening of roads has already been done. Dedicated lanes for the routes will be marked in a month, Jagtap said. The leaders decided to implement the project on the lines of Ahemdabad’s BRTS. Vivek Kharwadkar, additional city engineer (roads), said the civic body will have to complete three major works so that movement of the buses on the new BRTS routes will be smooth. Existing one-ways will remain even if they pass through BRTS routes. Buses on the BRTS track will follow the restrictions.
