DP World to develop JNPT terminal

Dubai-based leading marine terminal operator and developer DP World has won the contract to develop the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust’s Rs.600-crore container terminal in Navi Mumbai. DP World’s Indian subsidiary Nhava Sheva will build the standalone container handling facility; the 17-year concession agreement for which was signed on Wednesday.
The new 330 metre berth will add 800,000 TEUs (twenty foot equivalent unit) of container capacity and will help ease congestion at JNPT. The project would be executed on design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis.
