The Bopal BRTS route will be open for the public on Thursday morning. For the first time, the BRTS services will operate outside municipal limits. The project is the product of collaboration between Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), again the first of its kind. For now, the BRTS route will connect the Iskcon crossroads to Bopal circle.
The Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL), will in a few months take the BRTS network further into Bopal residential area and into Ghuma via an ‘S’ shaped flyover over SP ring road. This will be constructed at a cost of Rs 75 crore.
One of the emerging challenges that the AJL will encounter is the narrowness of certain stretches of 24 and 30 meter roads in Bopal, which have to be widened to accommodate BRTS.
