Come and make in India....



The PM on Independence Day made a strong push for deepening the manufacturing sector to create jobs and gave a “come and make in India“ call to investors. Narendra Modi urged the youth to embrace the spirit of entrepreneurship and help the country cut dependence on costly imports. “If we have to balance imports and exports, we'll have to strengthen manufacturing. If we have to put in use the education, the capability of the youth, we'll have to go for manufacturing. And for this, Hindustan will have to lend its full strength, but we invite world powers as well,“ Modi said. “I want to appeal to people the world over come, make in India. Come, manufacture in India“. Sell in any country but manufacture here,“ he exhorted.
Reviving manufacturing is a key policy plank of the Modi government as it draws up strategy to deal with the challenge of providing jobs to millions joining the workforce.
“We've got skill, talent, discipline, and determination. We want to give the world a favourable opportunity , come, make in India. We'll tell the world, from electrical to electronics, come, make in India, from automobiles to agro value addition come, make in India, paper or plastic, come, make in India, satellite or submarine come, make in India. Our country is powerful. Come, I am inviting you,“ he said.
He urged the youth to take pride in the “Made in India“ brand and ensure that products from the country reach every corner of the world. The government has been exploring ways of reducing dependence on imports as it battles the widening current account deficit.
“I'd like to ask youngsters why despite them, we are forced to import even the smallest of things,“ Modi asked urging the youth to manufacture products that can stop unwanted imports. “We should advance to a situation where we're can export such items. If each one of our millions of youngsters resolves to manufacture at least one such item, India can become a net exporter,“ the PM said. But he stressed on maintaining quality to compete in the world and stick to goals of sustainable economic growth.
“We should manufacture zero-defect goods, so that products we export are never returned. We should manufacture goods with zero-effect, so that they should have no negative impact on the environment,“ Modi said.
