Somewhere in Hyderabad....


The first Hyderabad metro train chugged in on Thursday when it took to the tracks for a test run.
The test run was conducted on a two-km stretch between Nagole and the Survey of India office at Uppal.
During the test run that lasted for 2 hours after 3 pm, experts tested various aspects including signalling, track and wheel alignment, electrification, communication and brakes.
While the test was conducted on a three-car train with two engines on Thursday , sources said that seven trains will be subjected to the test run on the stretch between between Nagole and Mettiguda. The test runs will continue till December when the mandated trials will be taken up, sources added. During the trial run, the train will cover a minimum of 2,000 km on real-time dead load.
Following the trial run, the Railway Design and Standard Organisation (RDSO) and Commissioner for Railway Safety will con duct various tests to certify the train service. Sources said that works near Assembly building has not been resumed even after the Centre instructed the state government to cooperate with the project.
