NaMo's run for unity....

Flagging off the nationwide Run for Unity events from Vadodara, Narendra Modi said that India was a country full of diversities and that these were its special features. Dressed for the occasion in a tracksuit and sneakers, Modi first flagged off the competitive long-distance runs and addressed the gathering before flagging off the Run for Unity.
“It is our responsibility to lay the foundation of unity respecting the diversities,” he said. “Diversity is not just our identity or tradition, it is our strength. We need to join these diversities with the mantra of unity.”
Modi said that there was no greater inspiration for unity than Sardar Patel who spent his life establishing it. Making a strong case for the Statue of Unity, Modi said that the statue would make generations remember Patel and inspire them. “It would be an idol, symbol and inspiration for unity,” he said.
Modi also pointed out in his speech that the future of the country would depend on unity, good governance and participation of people. He claimed that the movement being conducted for the Statue of Unity was the biggest effort of its kind after the Independence struggle.

Senior BJP leaders led the Run for Unity in various places across the country with the party claiming that people came out in large numbers for the cause of constructing the world’s tallest statue of Sardar Patel at Kevadia.
In Ahmedabad, senior BJP leader L K Advani inaugurated the run, saying it was a true tribute to Patel on his 63rd death anniversary. In his speech, he praised Modi for being an excellent event manager, who, with his imagination and hard work, conceptualized mega events and made them successful.
BJP president Rajnath Singh and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley flagged off the run from the party headquarters in New Delhi. “Sardar Patel died within three years of India achieving independence. What this great son of India achieved in one and half years is to lay the foundation of what the country is today. He integrated 565 princely states in 1947,” Singh said.
In Patna, a large number of BJP leaders, party workers and members of voluntary organizations participated to create awareness about the campaign for collecting iron for the construction of Patel’s statue in Gujarat. The run for unity was also held at all the district headquarters of Bihar, in which senior party leaders and former ministers participated.
Rajasthan reacted strongly to Modi’s call where BJP leader and Olympian Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore along with many newlyelected BJP legislators flagged-off the run at 8am at Amar Jawan Jyoti. “This is a great occasion to remember the country’s greatest politician. It’s our responsibility to fulfill his dream and vision to see this country ‘united’ and ‘prosperous,” said Rathore.
In Guwahati, the saffron party claimed that a total of about 50,000 people took part in the run across the districts. BJP state president Sarbanada Sonowal led the 2-km run in his home district, Dibrugarh, while the party’s national vice-president and Assam incharge, S S Ahluwalia, and Guwahati MP Bijoya Chakraborty led the march from Latasil to Guwahati Club.
