The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) finally reacted to the SC judgment upholding section 377 on Thursday evening. The party said it was disappointed with the judgment that reversed the landmark verdict of the Delhi HC on the subject. “The SC judgment thus criminalizes the personal behaviour of consenting adults. All those who are born with or choose a different sexual orientation would thus be placed at the mercy of police. This not only violates the human rights of such individuals but also goes against the liberal values of our Constitution, and the spirit of our times. Aam Aadmi Party hopes and expects that the SC will review this judgment and Parliament will also step in to repeal this archaic law,” it said.
