International Convention Centre @ Moshi

The Maharashtra state town planning department has approved the Pimpri Chinchwad New Township Development Authority’s (PCNTDA) plan to construct an international convention and exhibition centre in Moshi.
Chief executive officer of PCNTDA, Yogesh Mhase, said the project will be implemented in two phases. “The first phase will be completely funded by the authority at an expenditure of Rs.600 crore. We will construct two exhibition halls in three years. The convention centre will come up in the second phase, later.” The 100-metre height of the building was a point of contention. “We received the approval from the state government within six months. There were 11 reservations on the plot that were to be used for residential purpose. If the reservations were retained there was a possibility of a court case against PCNTDA.
Therefore, the authority decided to remove seven reservations and retain the remaining four,” Mhase said.
Land admeasuring 3.83 hectare owned by Agriculture Provincial Marketing Committee (APMC) also posed a hurdle in the beginning of phase one.
“The chief minister has approved giving of this land to PCNTDA which will pay APMC. We needed 15 hectare grazing land valued at Rs.15 crore from the state government which the chief minister approved.” “Normally, it would have required around three to four years to overcome these hurdles but the state government helped us to overcome them in a year. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar are following the progress,’’ he said.
