The Bombay HC has sought the Central government's response after the state government informed it that it is following the Centre's instructions on using “Sindhu“ in national anthem in textbooks. “How can the anthem be different from state to state,“ asked a division bench of Justices Anoop Mohta and Nitin Jamdar, hearing a PIL by Dakshata Shet for replacing it with “Sindh“. State's advocate Chandrakant Yadav said it is following the Centre's 1953 circular to states which annexed the script of the anthem with the word “Sindhu“. Yadav said the Centre may be added as a party to clarify the issue.
