Shivaji's fort Raigad to get a facelift

CM Devendra Fadnavis approved a Rs.500-crore plan for the development of Raigad fort and a 7 km radius around it. The announcement was made at an event to mark the 343rd anniversary of the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji.
The plans include providing highway connectivity and building a new ropeway . Konkan divisional commissioner Prabhakar Deshmukh said, “Through ASI, Rs 83 crore will be spent to renovate old structures, the samadhi, build a watch tower and an approach road. Also, Rajmata Jijau's house will be renovated.“
The state's plan to develop Raigad fort has been prepared by the Konkan divisional commissionerate and will be executed with ASI help. Deshmukh said, “Water supply and sewerage will cost Rs 26 crore, Rs 7.5 crore will be spent on health centre, garden and illumination, Rs 79 crore on Shiv Srusti, Rs 42 crore on water conservation and optical cable. Extending NH 66 will cost Rs 125 crore, land acquisition Rs 30 crore and the ropeway Rs 50 crore.“
