Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan will inaugurate Maharashtra’s first state-of theart border check-post in Talasari taluka.
A senior official from the state transport commissioner’s office said that from Wednesday any truck or goods’ vehicle that will pass through Acchad checkpost, where the computerized system has been set up, will go through a electronic weighing bridge and a huge scanner.
“The bridge will evaluate the truck’s weight, while the scanner will read the details on the RFID stickers pasted on trucks. The sticker will have details of the transporter, the source and destination of the goods, the nature of goods, its quantity, value, taxes paid, etc,” the official said.
An RTO official said the system will eliminate manual checking and also bring down corruption. Sources said the government plans to modernize 30 checkposts.
