Hyundai drove in a new compact ‘Grand i10’ that will take on models like Maruti Swift and Ford Figo. However, the model also threatens to take away numbers from Hyundai’s i10 and i20 compacts.
The Grand i10 will come in petrol and diesel variants. While the entry petrol model has a price of Rs 4.29 lakh, the diesel starts at Rs 5.23 lakh (exshowroom Delhi). For Hyundai, this is the lowest-priced diesel compact and the company is hoping to take away volumes from segment leader Swift, whose entry diesel model is priced at Rs 5.58 lakh.
Cannabalisation is one of the key concerns for Hyundai executives as the Grand’s new platform will make it a compelling choice for buyers of the existing i10 as well as i20.
