A Quake in the Bay of Bengal

A six-magnitude earthquake struck Bay of Bengal on Wednesday night, sending tremors as far out as Delhi-NCR and some other parts of north India. No tsunami warning was immediately issued.
The quake struck at 9.52 pm. Its epicentre was 60 km east of Paradip at a depth of 10 km, said LS Rathore, director general, India Meterological Department.IMD described the intensity of the quake as moderate.
Mild tremors were felt in Kolkata, Chennai and most places along the eastern coast but there was no immediate report of casualties or damage to property . In the capital, the tremors lasted as long as 15-20 seconds.
