The Congress party congratulated Narendra Modi ahead of his swearing-in as Prime Minister but asked him to act above partisan concerns.
“On behalf of Congress, the Congress president, the Congress vice-president, we express our warm congratulations and our best wishes to the new PM of this country who is about to take oath in a short while and to the council of ministers who are being sworn in with him. We wish them well,“ AICC spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said.
The party hoped the government would keep public interest and national interest in mind.
“From being a prime ministerial candidate of the BJP, Narendra Modi is today the Prime Minister of this country and that is the difference which we note and we expect others to act in that spirit,“ Singhvi said.
