A few weeks after chief minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a “communication super-expressway“ between Mumbai and Nagpur via Aurangabad, the Centre has said it would raise a low-interest loan for the Rs.30,000 crore project.The Centre is also keen on funding the proposed 10 km Ghodbunder-Borivli tunnel under the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
The assurance came at a meeting of state and central government officers led by Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari and MSRDC minister Eknath Shinde.
The plan is to have wi-fi, CCTV and optical cable network all along the road. The government also wants IT parks, smart cities and educational institutes on the route.
