Deadline for Mumbai Metro II, coastal road set

Maharashtra Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday fixed deadlines for projects, most of which are scheduled to be completed in 2019, in time for next assembly elections.
Fadnavis, while replying to discussion over motion of thanks on governor's speech in both the houses -state legislative assembly and council -said the state government has obtained all permissions from the Centre within a year, which was otherwise stuck for many years. Ambitious projects like coastal road, Metro II, Navi Mumbai International Airport, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue in the Arabian Sea will all be completed by 2019.
Fadnavis pointed out that the previous Congress-NCP government had announced projects but could not obtain any permissions, despite Congress being in power at the Centre. “The coastal road was announced by former CM Prithviraj Chavan. He had various meetings in Delhi but couldn't obtain permissions for the project. We have got all permissions in the last 11 months. Now the tender will be floated on April 30, work order will be issued by September and the first phase of the project will be comple ted in June 2019,“ said the CM The deadline for Metro II from Dahisar to DN Nagar (Andheri), is June 2019; while Metro III (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) will be completed by 2020 “Metro III will take some mo re time as it will be an under ground route,“ he added.
