IKEA confirms Navi Mumbai store

Executives with the Swedish flat-pack furniture giant stated that they plan to build a store in Navi Mumbai. Spread across 4 lakh sq ft, the store will be located on 23 acres along the Thane-Belapur road. The company had bought the lease rights from agro-chemicals major Rallis in March.
The store will offer bedroom sets and kitchenware, and a host of other products. IKEA officials say the new outlet will bring 500-700 full-time jobs. In fact, it intends to have 50% women staffers at its store.
Maharashtra is one of the most important markets for IKEA, said the company's India head Juvencio Maeztu in a statement. IKEA, which was the first single-brand retailer to get FDI approval, expects to have more than five million visitors at its Navi Mumbai store when it opens doors to customers in the near future.
Besides the store, the place will also feature a restaurant, bistro and other amenities.
