Dholera city snippets

Kalpsar project will decide the fate of development of Dholera and Kutch region. If the dam work does not start soon it would put a spanner in the plans of overall development of the state, said president of HCC Real Estate Limited, Rajgopal Nogja. Speaking on the sidelines of a seminar on urban infrastructure development, Nogja said, “Kalpsar dam would provide sweet water for use of the city and also stop the water logging in the coastal areas, making our project feasible,” he said. HCC had singed an MoU with state government in Vibrant Gujarat 2009 proposing highest investment of Rs 40,000 crore in a single project for setting up sea-facing city over 4,000 acres. The infrastructure major’s official, however, added that they were sure of some decision being taken within six months. “We have urged to state government to share the master plan prepared by Halcrow company from UK. Once, we get the master plan details, we will start working for Dholera City accordingly,” said Nogja. “Once decision on Kalpsar is taken, we can get the work related to our city started within two years. And once we start, it will take us barely five years to erect the whole city,” said Nogja. HCC has identified three locations where it can develop the city in Dholera. What’s more, HCC Ltd is keen on building Kalpsar dam. “HCC has experience of construction of several dams. So, we are one of the strongest contenders for the project and have already made a presentation for the same in front of the chief minister,” said Nogja.
