A seven-month-old male calf stands beside its 35-year-old mother who died of an illness near a pond at Thanneerpallam near South Burgur reserve forest in Anthiyur range in Erode district on Friday. Forest officials said the calf was seen at the spot on Saturday even after officials buried the mother elephant after a postmortem.
