Indraprastha Bhulekh

To break the monopoly of a section of babus managing land records of the city's 356 villages, empower property owners with authentic, digitally-signed documents and end harassment of buyers at the hands of a burgeoning mafia, the Delhi government is preparing to go public with Indraprastha Bhulekh, a detailed online database of land records of each and every property in a village. The digitized record, along with maps linked to satellite imagery of ground status, will help provide a robust “land monitoring and management“ system to check alterations in land status including transactions and illegal constructions.
To begin with, the records of 52 villages of southwest district digitized in pilot mode will be put out in the public domain in weeks ahead. Trial runs for using the online system are on. Digitization for the remaining villages in 10 districts will be completed within five months from the public launch of the land record platform.
With this online system, the government is seeking to bring to an end the arduous and corruption-ridden process of getting hold of authentic land records for properties n Delhi's 356 villages. Once functional, digitally signed records can be easily downloaded and printed for use.
In Delhi's village belts, expensive agricultural land is currently under siege. There are many legal disputes as the untapped areas are now being sought by builders and land mafia through illegal means.Through this online database, anyone can get a view into the property land record and its legal status. They can then cross-check the land status through the maps put up showing the ground situation. Any discrepancy can be pointed out immediately.
