Petrol price was on Wednesdsay cut by 49 paisa a litre, diesel by Rs.1.21 and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) by 2%, but rates of non-subsidized LPG were hiked by Rs.11 a cylinder.
The reduction in petrol and diesel prices, which are effective from Wednesday midnight, come after two consecutive increases in February and March.
Price of petrol in Mumbai will be Rs.67.53 a litre from tomorrow as against the current Rs.68.04, while diesel will cost Rs.55.69 per litre from Rs.57.03, said Indian Oil Corp (IOC), the country's largest oil company.
Rates of ATF, or jet fuel, in Delhi was cut by Rs.1,025 per kilolitre, or 2%, to Rs.49,338 per kl.The reduction comes on the back of a steep 8.2% hike in rates effected from March 1.
Simultaneously , oil firms hiked the price of non-subsidized or market-priced domestic cooking gas (LPG) by Rs.11 to Rs.621 per 14.2-kg cylinder in Delhi.
