GSRTC to get modernized
Computer ticketing services, 12 platforms with comfortable seating arrangement inside, FM channels playing. This is the new age bus terminus for Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation.GSRTC is trying hard to turn over a new leaf. And, a modern satellite bus station equipped with all amenities to make the ride smooth for its passengers is just one of the steps that will start materialising.GSRTC, in association with Indian Oil Corporation, has set up a modern bus stop at Krishna Nagar in Naroda at an expense of Rs 3 crore. At present, GSRTC has undertaken an initiative to develop state-of-the-art bus terminals all over Gujarat in association with private players through public-private partnership. A pilot project covering seven bus terminals, two at Ahmedabad, two at Surat, two at Vadodara and one at Mehsana will start soon.That is not all. GSRTC has so far inducted 3,700 new buses in the last three years. In a bid to improve its services, GSRTC has now decided to introduce new buses to compete with private players in terms of design, appearance and passenger comforts.The GSRTC buses will now have facilities like comfortable seating, FM radio, mobile phone charging facility. The luxury buses have been equipped with DVD/TV.In addition to other facilities, the satellite bus station will be equipped a huge waiting arena, public utility services and computerised bus pass facilities for students.Passengers can board direct buses from the station to different parts of the state. Altogether, 544 departure and arrivals take place from the station on a daily basis.
