Maharashtra: ‘C-’ grade for MSEDCL in integrated power ranking

State power utility firm, MSEDCL, scored a poor grade of “C-” in the latest annual integrated rating and ranking of power distribution utilities released by the Ministry of Power. Both Tata Power and Adani Electricity from Mumbai were among the top rankers with A+ grade in the list of total 52 discoms across the country. The report mentioned that the power utility had Rs 8714 crore of unrealised revenue. There was, however, a silver lining for the utility. “MSEDCL is performing well on power purchase as well as O&M losses,” the report said. MSEDCL managing director Vijay Singhal said: “This ranking is for the year 2020-21, during Covid-19 period. That time recovery was very poor. Now, in 2021-22, our recovery improved exponentially to 99.3% (highest recovery of Rs 77,000 crore in a year) and AT&C losses went down by 5.5 %. Our performance has improved. ”
