Somewhere in Patna....

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar won the confidence vote in the state assembly with the help of the Congress while his JD (U) party’s former partner, the BJP, staged a walkout as he launched a blistering attack on Gujarat CM Narendra Modi without naming him.
Three days after breaking the 17-year-old alliance with the BJP over Modi’s imminent elevation as its prime ministerial candidate, Kumar showcased a radical transformation in the state’s political landscape, securing the support of four members of the Congress along with four independents and one member of the CPI. The ruling party won 126 votes after the strength of the 243-member assembly was reduced to 150 following the walkout of the BJP and the LJP.

The Congress said it supported Kumar to keep communal forces at bay, raising the existential crisis for its regional ally, the Lalu Prasad-led Rashtriya Janata Dal, which voted against the state government even as it partners the Congress-led coalition at the Centre. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had signalled the Congress’ willingness to collaborate with Kumar, calling the chief minister a secular leader.
