BJP incharge of Punjab affairs, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said his party will contest the Punjab assembly elections with a seat adjustment with former chief minister Amarinder Singh’s party Punjab Lok Congress. Capt Amarinder had met with Shekhawat in Delhi earlier in the day.
Shekhawat said it was final that the two parties will contest the assembly elections together. “I had met Captain Saab in Chandigarh earlier. We will inform you about other issues like seat-sharing at an appropriate time,” he said.
Later in the day, Amarinder posted on social media: “Today met with Central minister and BJP Punjab In-charge Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi to determine the future strategy before Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections. We will make seat adjustment with BJP for 2022 Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections.”
