Tech Mahindra has become the latest successful applicant to drop out of the race for setting up a payments bank, leaving only eight promoters in the fray . Earlier, Cholamandalam Finance and the Dilip Shanghvi-IDFC-Telenor combine had dropped out.
Last Thursday , following the second exit, RBI deputy governor S S Mundra had said, “We would certainly feel little aggrieved because lot of efforts from the part of RBI goes in processing these applications.“
With this, the applicants left in the fray are Reliance Industries, Aditya Birla Nuvo, IndiaPost, Vodafone MPesa, Airtel Money , Fino PayTech, NSDL and Vijay Shekhar Sharma.
