IRNSS-1B

The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) will launch the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS-1 B) satellite on April 4. The IRNSS-1 B is the second navigation satellite of the seven satellites constituting the IRNSS space segment. It’s predecessor, IRNSS-1, was launched in July 2013.
Isro said the IRNSS-1B has a lift off mass of 1,432 kg. The configuration of IRNSS-1B is similar to that of the IRNSS-1A. The satellite has been realised in less that seven months after the launch of its predecessor.
IRNSS would provide standard positioning services (SPS), which provided to all users and restricted services (RS), provided only to authorised users (military). The entire IRNSS constellation of seven satellites is planned to completed by 2015-16.
Application of IRNSS: Terrestrial, aerial, marine navigation, disaster management, vehicle tracking and fleet management, integration with mobile phones, precise timing, mapping and geodetic data capture, terrestrial navigation aid for hikers and travellers and visual and voice navigation for drivers.
