One of the biggest Gulf carrier, Qatar Airways, has called on India to have an open sky policy — in which there is no restriction on flights. The call comes on heels of India granting liberal grant of additional flying rights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi — while declining a similar request from Qatar.
“Unfortunately the government regime does not allow free access to the Indian market... India is a huge country. It is an economic giant. It has potential that very few countries have. I hope that the new government in India will revisit the aviation regime in India and look at the interests of the Indian people,” agency reports quoted Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker as saying.
