Bihar Re-Alignment?!

In a state of open hostility with JD(U) and its chief Nitish Kumar for the last 20 years, RJD boss Lalu Prasad declared his party’s support to his arch foe, just a day before the RS elections for two seats in Bihar. Prasad also suggested an RJD-JD(U) partnership in the future.
A few days ago, Kumar, weighed down by rebellion, had spoken to Prasad over phone and sought his support. He is facing strong challenge with some rebel MLAs fielding two candidates against the party’s nominees for the bypolls.
With RJD’s 21 MLAs backing JD(U), which is staring at a loss of around 24 rebel votes out of its assembly strength of 117, Kumar will make it with the support of one CPI member and two independents.
However, if the number of rebels increases – to around 35 then Kumar’s candidates could land in trouble.
