Uddhav asks for a clear mandate

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray indicated that he was not averse to becoming the chief minister provided his party got a clear mandate. Speaking at a function in Pune to launch his statewide campaign, Uddhav asked party workers to put in all efforts to win the state election.“You repeatedly say that I should become the chief minister. But do you promise to put in every possible effort? Individual ambitions do not matter. You should concentrate on winning the elections,“ he said.
“Shiv Sena supremo (Bal Thackeray) had sought power single-handedly in the state and at the Centre. He had said that he would solve the Kashmir problem in a day . Imagine what he would have done if people had given him a full majority?“ said Uddhav, asking Shiv Sainiks to fulfil the late Sena founder's dream.
Uddhav said he did not want those who had ditched the party to return to its fold.b Just a few days ago some people were targeting the Shiv Sena and ridiculing me. Now, the same people want to come back. I don't want people who make a beeline for posts and power,“ he added. The Sena president criticized NCP chief Sharad Pawar for saying that the state could build 26 lake cities. “Issues like drought, farmers' suicide and water scarcity need attention. But Pawar is only interested in lands and constructions,“ he said.
Uddhav asked party leaders to ensure that all voters register. “If we get the power, I promise to focus on improvement of rivers,“ he added.
