NaMu Airport update

City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) is optimistic about acquiring 671 hectares of land from 14 villages to develop the Rs.15,000-crore international airport project.
A government resolution (GR), outlining the new compensation model was issued last week. The positive response shown by the villagers following the new compensation plan has given a boost to the land transfer process. Cidco has received 127 consent letters, 27 of which were submitted on Thursday . It requires a total of 1,200 letters. A land acquisition officer has been appointed and a common facility centre has also been set up at Belapur to help villagers with procedures. Joint MD V Radha said Cidco will be assisting villagers with the paperwork. The development corporation has set July 23 as the deadline for submission of consent letters to get developed land at Pushpak Nagar under a lottery system. The first draw will held on August 15. Land development is also underway at Wadghar and Vahal for the rehabilitation process. Cidco officials said that the villagers can either accept its `best deal' or accept the deal under Central Land Acquisition Act.
Cidco MD Sanjay Bhatia said nearly all villages are keen about the land acquisition process. Koli village, though, is yet to give consent. “We will be able to convince them,“ Bhatia said. Villagers from Varsheovale on Thursday also agreed on a joint survey of their homes for the rehabilitation package. The new GR has incorporated the airport land compensation model for the first time. The Cidco land compensation model of 22.5% with 2 FSI also includes relief and rehabilitation package of houses three times the size, for project affected persons (PAPs) from the core aeronautical area.
