The Board of Control for Cricket in India concluded media rights auctions for its biggest prized property, the Indian Premier League, raising a record ₹48,390 crore ($6. 2 billion) for the 2023-27 period, with digital exceeding television. The total is almost three times the ₹16,347. 5 crore that the BCCI earned in the last rights cycle from DisneyStar.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah officially announced DisneyStar as the winner of linear TV rights for the Indian subcontinent, or package A, and Viacom18 as the winner of the Indian subcontinent digital rights--packages B and C –in a series of tweets on Tuesday. The auctions had begun on Sunday
Shah also named Viacom18 as winner of three international territories–Australia-New Zealand, UK-Europe and South Africa. The remaining two territories, the US and the Middle East and North Africa, went to Times Internet.
