It's raining cheap air tickets these days. Low cost carrier SpiceJet began a new flash sale on Tuesday , offering a promotional all-inclusive ticket offer starting from Rs 2,999 for a one-way journey on domestic routes, primarily from Tier-II cities.
The three-day offer, for which bookings began on Tuesday , is valid for travel between July 6 and March 28 next year and will be applicable for all via and onward connection flights. The scheme aims at stimulating traffic from the Tier-II cities.
Meanwhile, AirAsia India, which begins operations next week, has sold 25,000 promotional fate seats (that began with base fares as low as Rs 5) within two days of beginning bookings. The first flight from Bangalore to Goa on June 12 was sold out within 10 minutes of opening for sales.
The airline said all-inclusive fares from as low as Rs 990 are available for booking on flights from Bangalore to Chennai, Chennai to Bangalore, Bangalore to Goa and Goa to Bangalore.
Last week, IndiGo had also announced promotional fares for just Re 1 on Bangalore, Chennai and Goa routes, and had put on sale over 15,000 promotional seats with immediate bookings. AirAsia's no-free-bags rule irks DGCA Lowcost carrier AirAsia India's decision not to allow free check-in baggage has not gone down well with DGCA. The aviation regulator has directed the airline, which is to begin its operations next Thursday, to take the charges off its website, saying it had to first get them approved. AirAsia, as per its global practice, had also decided not to refund base fares in case of cancellations. However, with DGCA again reading out the Indian rules, it has agreed to fall in line. The airline's officials will be meeting the DGCA today. All Indian carriers currently allow check-in baggage up to 15 kg free of cost for domestic flyers.
