Amritsar: 125 on flight from Italy test +ve

One hundred and twenty-five international passengers on board a Milan-Amritsar chartered flight tested positive for Covid-19 on arrival at the Sri Guru Ram Das International airport in Amritsar on Thursday. The majority of infected people are from Ludhiana, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, and Gurdaspur districts, while 13 are from Amritsar, and a few from Moga and Phillaur.

Assistant civil surgeon Dr Amarjit Singh said that following objections by passengers and their relatives, the administration decided to send the infected passengers to isolation centres of their respective districts.

A late night report said that all 13 Covid-positive passengers hailing from Amritsar district have gone missing. Amritsar deputy commissioner Gurpreet Singh Khaira directed the additional deputy commissioner Ruhi Dugg to register a case against the missing people.
