Tallying of VVPAT and EVM count in recent polls show 100% match

For all the doubts expressed regarding reliability of electronic voting machines from time to time, including by Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, the tallying of VVPAT (voter verifiable paper audit trail) slips and EVM count in all 822 constituencies across four states and a UT threw up a 100% match.

According to reports received by EC, “a perfect match” was found between the number of paper slips from all the 4,412 VVPATs, including 4,210 VVPATs for which tallying was done in assembly polls and 202 VVPATs in the bye-elections, and the corresponding EVM count.

EC sources said that tallying with EVM count was undertaken with respect to 1,492 VVPATs in West Bengal, 1,183 VVPATs in Tamil Nadu, 728 in Kerala, 647 in Assam and 156 in Puducherry. Similarly, paper trail from a total 202 VVPATs were matched for bye-elections in four parliamentary constituencies and 12 assembly constituencies across nine states.
