Terrorists storm CRPF camp

Five CRPF personnel were killed when heavily armed terrorists stormed into the 185th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force training centre in Lethpora of South Kashmir. Cutting through the wall fencing, the terrorists entered the CRPF camp around 2.15 am on Sunday, opening fire and lobbing hand grenades.

There was a specific alert that Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists will target the camp. The Jammu and Kashmir police said there was prior intelligence warning about this attack.

Jaish has taken responsibility for the fidayeen attack, which was carried to avenge the killing of their commander Noora Trali.

Five CRPF personnel, including one who died of cardiac arrest, were killed and several others were injured in the attack. Two terrorists were killed in the attack, while one is still holed up. Combing operation continued till reports last came in.

The dead terrorists were identified as Manzoor Ahmad Baba from Pulwama and Tral resident Fardeen Ahmad Khanday, who is the son of a serving police constable. The two had joined militant ranks only three months ago.

The 4-storey building consists of 3 blocks, and block-one is used for officer’s family accommodation, 2nd block as main office while block three has been targeted by terrorists.
